PANUEL NANGUNYE
Rumours had reached his ears and he had somehow believed it. Everyone was talking about it, including his teachers. Some said it is true but others dismissed it as a baseless theory. He asked his father, who he believed knew everything under the sun. "Is it true that the end of the world will come with millennium 2000?" His father was not sure, but he felt that incase the end does not come the year would be a bad one.
Panuel recalled the words of his father that the year 2000 would be bad one as he mourned the death of his parents. One question remained unanswered in his mind. "Did my father know that I would be left a total orphan come the year 2000?" It was tough for him and his sister. The misery began. Hope was no more. The poor and aged grandmother was unable to meet their need. Missing lunch became a routine. He had to often miss classes to collect relief food for the family.
Since his enrolment into Leigh Day orphan programme Panuel has shown great improvement in class performance. He is very determined to be a medical doctor. He wants to serve sick people. His hobbies include reading bible and cycling.
