MIKE SILAKAN
Mike Silakan was 13 years by the time he was enrolled into HOME trust orphan sponsorship programme. We found him a desperate orphan. His parents had both died in 1997 carrying with themselves the hope of the child. He had accepted the reality of going without breakfast and lunch. Life grew worse with each rising of the sun.
Before his enrolment Mike had his aunt acting as his guardian. The sister was very poor and Mike's education was often interrupted as he had to remain at home due to lack of school fee. His performance had been so poor but he has been improving. He is now performing excellently and he passed well in his class 8 final examinations. He managed to secure himself a place in Doldol boys' high school, which is a provincial school. Mike wants to be a surgeon. His favorite subjects are Chemistry and Biology. We believe in his hard work and it is our hope that he will make it.
