HOME is working in Laikipia North district, in Rift valley province in Kenya; its offices are located in Doldol Township. The Laikipiak community is located between 1600m and 1800m above see level. It falls to the east of Euwaso Nyiro River. Rainfall is bimodal and unreliable with a total range of 250 to 400mm per year. The land is undulating and there are some rock outcrops in the area.

The community is settled within a rocky terrain on the northeastern edge of Laikipiak plateau. It falls under ECZ [4] & [5] with thorny bush land dominated by acacia and the most conspicuous grass species. Highest rainfall is on and around April-May and October-November. Soil moisture is 10%-20%. Average atmospheric temperatures ranges from 20-38 degrees Celsius with about 7-9 hours of sunshine daily.
